Sex over 50 can be just as fun as it was when you were younger. You may have to work around some age-related physical problems or find ways to boost your sex drive, but you can still have a good time under the sheets.

Here are some ways men over 50 can keep their passion alive:

Get Moving

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your sex life.1

First, exercise keeps you in shape so your muscles won’t hurt during sex.

Second, exercise keeps you happy and relaxed, to put you in the right frame of mind for sex.

Exercise also keeps you from packing on the pounds, a smart move since extra weight and health conditions linked to it can cause sexual decline.

Finally, leading an active lifestyle can make you look more fit, trim, and attractive, which builds self-confidence in the bedroom.

Treat Physical Problems

Work with your doctor to diagnose and resolve physical problems that might get in the way of a healthy sex life. Health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure can all impact sexual function.

A doctor can prescribe the right medications and/or lifestyle changes like improving your diet, exercising, and losing weight, all of which can improve sexual function.

In addition, your doctor may prescribe ED pills, recommend LI-ESWT either in their medical clinic or using a convenient at-home device, or even suggest surgery.

While you’re at the doctor’s, ask them whether any of your medications can have sexual side effects. Pills like beta-blockers for high blood pressure and some antidepressants are the biggest culprits.2-3

Switch Things Up

Men over 50 may have to do some things differently. For example, if you’re getting too tired to have sex at night, move your sexual encounters to the morning. Men’s testosterone levels are usually higher in the morning, which also can help you have more sex drive. If your arthritis causes pain during certain sexual positions, try something new.

Concentrate on Pleasure

As men get older, they lose muscle mass and often gain weight. When this happens, a man’s body image may suffer. If that’s the case, concentrate on your pleasure and that of your partner rather than focus on how you look.
